A tribute to Justin and Genille French

I can honestly say that in my life I have been privileged to meet many special people and have friendships that go back to school days, and they span the globe. They are gifted and committed to improving this world in which we live.

I have been encouraged, supported and educated in my many endeavors in life, especially over the last thirteen years in providing food, housing, healthcare and education in The Gambia. These friends are precious in a world in turmoil, despair, and conflict, many of them are now under duress where they live.

This Christmas I received another gift by the “giftee” of two more most precious individuals, Doctors by profession, and gentle souls committed to helping the unfortunate and underprivileged of the world and doing it with exceptional passion.

I had not met either but had received help from Justin several years ago with a diagnosis for a blind baby who I was trying to help in The Gambia. He provided me a diagnosis and advice without hesitation.

Genille came to meet with me after I inquired about support from their APEX Impact Foundation and listened patiently and attentively to my stories, which are many. I was inspired by her own story of how they are making a difference in the world and their long-term commitment to make the world a better place.

She committed to help without hesitation, which was for me, a light in the darkness as I was struggling with how to continue my efforts in with my education program with which I have been supporting over twenty young people.

Their significant commitment is exemplified with the creation of APEX Impact Foundation, which I learned from my own research was far beyond my resources. Their foundation is committed to improving the quality of life in underprivileged parts of the world through improving healthcare, shelter, food and education.

Justin has been volunteering in Mongolia where he has been participating in educating local ophthalmologists and developing a surgical training program for the country.

Their passion and vision for APEX, and imminent commitment is evident in their current project in Uganda. It is construction of a medical clinic in Kawaaga, a rural village, and at the same time donating food, clothing and shoes to an orphanage and locals. This is an impossible dream in that country.

Knowing and not satisfied with the limitations of a foundation, they have widened their scope and vision by creating a charitable organization to help others, like me, with similar activities that widen their impact and footprint in other countries.

I am so grateful to them for their efforts, and the support they have offered me to allow my twenty plus young people to continue in school. Some of them I have been supporting since the beginning of my mission and are now in their second year of university. They are ecstatic, and thankful is an understatement of their gratitude.

My own resources and assets are exhausted, my current health situation limits me, and the current economic situation everywhere affect the many people who have supported me over the years. Once again life’s magic has brought two very gifted, caring, and passionate individuals into my life – they are most special.
